# New tab

When you click ![](../_image/new-tab-icon.png), [Yandex Browser](https://browser.yandex.com/) opens a new tab. You can find all relevant information here. You can customize the appearance and content of the new tab.

1. SmartBox performs search by queries, URLs, and [images](https://browser.yandex.ru/help/en/search-and-browse/search.md#search-image).

1. Tableau is a panel with widgets for the pages that you visit most often. You can [set up](#tableau-show) a full or compact tile list.

1. Settings control the [design](#types-of-tableau) of the new tab page.

## Set up the design {#types-of-tableau}

Now you can customize the design of a new tab. Just choose the appropriate option:

* Clock and date

* Search bar

* Yandex Browser hints

The clock and the search bar are enabled by default. To disable them:

1. In the bottom-right corner, click ![](../_image/ntp-settings.svg).

1. Under **New tab view**, disable **Clock and date**, **Search bar**, and **Yandex Browser hints**.

You can also [change the Yandex Browser background](https://browser.yandex.ru/help/en/personalization/change-background.md) and [disable ads](https://browser.yandex.ru/help/en/security/hide-ad.md#ntp-ad) under the Tableau.

#### You can change the appearance of the Tableau in the new tab: {#tableau-show}

1. In the upper-right corner, click **![](../_image/settings-icon.svg)**&nbsp;→ **Settings**.


1. Open **Interface**&nbsp;→ **New tab page view**.

1. Next to **Show Tableau**, select the option you need:

    - **Full**, if you want to see the maximum number of tiles.

    - **Compact**, if you want to see the minimum number of tiles. To see the rest of the tiles, scroll up.

## Informers and notifications {#informers-and-notifications}

Yandex aims to keep you informed: the new tab page shows notifications about traffic jams, incidents, and important events happening in your area. In addition, below the clock, you can find a weather informer.

You can choose which information you want to see on the new tab page:

1. In the upper-right corner, click **![](../_image/settings-icon.svg)**&nbsp;→ **Settings**.


1. Go to **Interface**.

1. Under **New tab page view**, click **Informer and notification settings**.

1. Select the notifications and informers you need.
