Manage groups
What are tab groups for?
With tab groups, you can easily organize your browser. You can create new groups, classify tabs, and move them between groups and windows to make working as convenient as possible.
— Window tabs. This is where you'll find the tabs that you haven't added to any groups.
— Active group.
— Scroll.
— All groups.
— Active group tabs.
— Create group.
Configure tab groups
To enable tab groups:
-
Click → Settings → Interface.
-
In the Tabs and groups section, enable the Use tab groups option.
In the Tabs and groups section, you can also enable the following options:
-
Open external links in the Home group instead of the active tab group. If the option is enabled, when you click links from external applications, for example, from Telegram, Yandex Messenger, or a text editor, the page opens in Window tabs. If the option is disabled, the page opens in the group that's currently active.
-
Pin a group when it's created. If the option is enabled, when you create a group, it'll be pinned to the panel.
-
Create new groups in the cloud. If the option is enabled, Yandex Browser syncs your new groups, and you can open them on all your devices.
To restore window tabs and pinned groups in every window after you restart Yandex Browser, enable the Restore tabs and groups at startup option in the settings.
Note
If the Restore tabs and groups at startup option is disabled, the unpinned window tabs aren't restored, but you can find them in your history. The groups are saved in any case: click the icon and you'll see them.
Groups and windows
In Yandex Browser, you can open tab groups in any window. To do this, click the icon and select the group.
-
So that the rightmost tab group doesn't overlap with the new group, pin it. Then the group opens next to it, not instead of it.
-
You can also open a tab group in multiple windows at once. All the changes that you make to the group in one window (for example, delete or open some tabs) are reflected in the other window almost instantly.
-
If you close the window, the tab groups are still available in the other window.
Note
If you delete a group, it disappears from all windows.
