Sync and restore
Sync tabs and groups
After syncing your devices with your Yandex ID, you can view groups and tabs that are open on your other devices, provided they're stored in the cloud. This feature is useful in the following situations:
-
If you have two computers — a work computer and a home computer. On your work computer, you've created a group with the sites that you need for work. When you return home, you need to open a site from this group to continue where you left off.
-
If you have a mobile device and a computer. For example, you might find an interesting website on your smartphone or tablet and decide that you want to view it on a larger screen.
Enable tab group syncing
-
Install Yandex Browser on all your devices (computer, smartphone, tablet).
-
Enable syncing on all your devices.
-
Log in with the same Yandex ID on all your devices.
-
In the groups menu, move the tab groups that you want to open on other devices to the cloud.
Store a group in the cloud
You can open and edit groups and tabs on any of your devices. To do this, move them to the cloud in the groups menu:
-
To open the groups menu, click to the left above the SmartBox.
-
To the right of the group, click the cloud icon and select:
— Cloud group, available on your other devices.
— Non-cloud group, available only on this device.
— Group is added to the cloud, but syncing is currently disabled on this device.

Restore tabs and groups
After restart
To restore tabs and tab groups after restarting Yandex Browser:
-
Click → Settings → Interface.
-
In the Tabs and groups section, enable the Restore tabs and groups at startup option.
After reinstallation
If you want to keep your tabs and tab groups after you reinstall Yandex Browser:
-
Close all Yandex Browser windows.
-
Open the Control Panel.
-
Click Programs → Uninstall a program.
-
In the Uninstall/Change window, select Yandex from the list of installed programs.
-
Click Uninstall at the top of the list.
-
Click Uninstall in the window that opens.
-
Click Delete browser, but don't select the Delete browser settings, browsing history, and other data option.
-
Install Yandex Browser again.
What if the browser data and settings have already been deleted?
If you selected the Delete browser settings, browser history, and other data option or clicked Reinstall as you deleted the browser, you won't be able to restore the previously opened tabs. You can still view the tabs in your synced history (but tab groups aren't available):
-
Enable syncing to transfer the history from the server to your computer.
-
Click the SmartBox and go to the Recently closed tab that appears underneath it.
If you enabled syncing, you can access the tabs that were open on your computer before you reinstalled your system. The syncing process is linked to your device name, which typically changes when you reinstall your OS. When you sync your computer using a new name, Yandex Browser thinks that it's a new device. That's why the Other devices tab displays a folder with your computer's old name. You can use it to view the tabs that were open in the browser before reinstalling the OS. To do this:
1. Install Yandex Browser.
2. Enable syncing.
3. Press → Settings.
4. Go to the Other devices tab.
5. Open the folder with your computer's old name. In the Open sites section, you'll see a list of tabs that were open in Yandex Browser before reinstalling.
Tip
To open all the tabs in the list at the same time, click the header of the Open sites section.
If your computer's name hasn't changed after you reinstalled the OS, you won't see this folder, because the browser won't think that your computer is a different device. To see the folder:
-
Rename your computer: Control panel → System and security → System → Advanced system settings → Computer name.
-
Wait for the data to sync with the server.
-
Go to the Other devices tab and open the folder with the old name of your computer.
You can enter search queries in the address bar — the browser will understand what you need.
