Website notifications

What kind of notifications are there?

Yandex.Browser displays pop-up messages from the following entities:Yandex.Browser

Yandex.Browser sends these messages under those service's respective names. You will receive notifications in these cases:

  • Yandex.Mail. You received a new email.
  • VK. You received a new message, comment, or friend request.

You can choose to allow or block these messages, as well as customize their contents.

Notifications from Yandex.Mail and VK

Turn notifications on or off

Yandex.Browser will suggest that you enable notifications when you open VK or Yandex.Mail for the first time. If you decline, you can enable notifications later in the settings menu.

To turn notifications on or off in the settings:

  1. Tap  → Settings.
  2. In the Notifications section, click Notification settings.
  3. Go to the Yandex.Mail section.
  4. Check/uncheck the Notifications enabled option.

You can choose to disable notifications temporarily. To do this:

  1. Tap  → Settings.
  2. In the Notifications section, click Disable all notifications for three hours.
Actions with notifications
  • To go to the site that the notification came from (VK or Yandex.Mail), just click on the notification.
  • To hide the author and text of the notification so that only the subject is visible, click .
  • To personalize notifications, click .
Customize notifications
  1. Tap  → Settings.
  2. In the Notifications section, click Notification settings.
  3. Check the options you want in the Yandex.Mail section.

Notifications from other sites

The first time you open a site that sends notifications to users, Yandex.Browser will ask whether you want to accept or block notifications from that site. After you allow or block notifications, the Receive notifications from this site option will appear in the Protect panel, and the icon will appear in the SmartBox.

Block and allow notifications from a specific site
  1. Click in the notifications. Open the Yandex.Browser settings.
  2. Click on the website address.
  3. Select Block from the drop-down list.
  4. Tap Done.

Block notifications from all sites
  1. Tap  → Settings.
  2. At the bottom of the Settings page, click Show advanced settings.
  3. In the Privacy section, click Content settings.
  4. In the Notifications section, check the Do not show site notifications option.
  5. Tap Done.
